Aussies in one state are ready to spend some money, with a new discount department store set to open in just a matter of weeks.
District Outlet Centre, north of Adelaide in Parafield, is due to open on July 1 as South Australia’s only undercover discount shopping precinct.
Currently, residents looking to save some cash and score a bargain are limited to the Harbour Town outlet centre in the city’s west, but residents in the northern suburbs are welcoming the new development with open arms.
District will be home to 50 stores, with big brands including Kathmandu, Fila, Hype DC, Puma, Rip Curl and Cotton On.
The project’s developer Brett Lovett told 9 NEWS the centre should offer an economic boost to the area.
“Most people should be selling stock that is 30 per cent discount to what you pay on the high street,” Mr Lovett said.
“People want to get a bargain so hopefully it’ll do well.”
The indoor design, similar to those found in other states, will allow shoppers to enter from one spot, travel around the precinct and finish off where they started.
It will also feature 600 car spaces and a food court overlooking the Parafield airport runway.
It’s also providing hundreds of job opportunities in the area, with vacancies for both centre management roles and retail jobs.
South Australians keen to get through the doors are taking to social media to express their excitement.
“Finally!” one woman wrote.
“It’s so close to being done, can’t wait!”
“It’s about time, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane have all got outlets more than just the one we have … Harbour town,” said another.
“The north has waited for this for a long time.”
